The primary tag team title on SmackDown. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan created tandem titles for SmackDown following the 2016 brand split, with the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno crowned in an eight-team tournament at Backlash on September 11, 2016. From May 2022 to April 2024 it was unified with the Raw Tag Team Championship and defended together as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship — a span that includes The Usos’ record 622-day reign — before the titles split again and this one took the WWE Tag Team Championship name. Reigns are credited to teams; The New Day holds the record with seven.
