Created on February 27, 1974 as the NWA Mid-Atlantic Television Championship under Jim Crockett Promotions, with Danny Miller the inaugural champion. It passed through the NWA Television and NWA World Television names before becoming the WCW World Television Championship when WCW left the NWA in 1991. A frequently defended secondary title famous for its time-limit draws. Booker T holds the record with six reigns.
WCW World Television Championship — FAQ
The WCW World Television Championship is no longer active. Deactivated on April 10, 2000 by Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff during their on-air reboot of WCW; it was never reactivated before WCW closed in 2001. A separately introduced NWA World Television Championship does not share this lineage. The final champion was Jim Duggan.
Danny Miller was the inaugural WCW World Television Championship, winning it on Feb 27, 1974 at House show.
Booker T has the most reigns with 6.
