TNA's signature high-flying title, established in June 2002 with AJ Styles crowned the inaugural champion under the division's motto that it is not about weight limits, it is about no limits. Chris Sabin is its defining figure with a record ten reigns; AJ Styles, Jay Lethal and Austin Aries follow with six apiece. Aries also holds the longest single reign at 301 days. The belt is closely tied to the Option C stipulation, which let a champion trade it for a world title shot and produced several of its vacancies. With well over a hundred reigns, it has the deepest history of any title in the promotion.
