New Japan's junior heavyweight title and one of the most storied cruiserweight championships in the world, established in 1986 with Shiro Koshinaka as the inaugural champion. Jushin Thunder Liger defined the division with a record eleven reigns across three decades, including a 628-day run that is still the longest. Tiger Mask IV and Kushida sit second with six apiece. For a stretch in 1996 and 1997 the belt was folded into the eight-title J-Crown, and a pair of late-1990s changes even happened on WCW Nitro in the United States.
